Itinerary
Your first day sets the stage for an unforgettable ski touring experience. Upon reaching Canazei, a renowned Alpine resort, you’ll settle into your chosen hotel. The town is part of the Val di Fassa region, a stretch of land spanning from Moena to Canazei itself. Here, you’re enveloped by some of the Dolomites’ most iconic mountains, such as Marmolada, Sassolungo, and the Sella Group, to name a few. Notably, Canazei is one of the seven distinct municipalities making up Val di Fassa, each offering its unique charm. If you haven’t arranged your own transportation, there’s an option for a private transfer to get you to your destination.
Day two kicks off with a rendezvous with your certified ski guide, who will brief you on the day’s activities and ensure your gear is up to snuff. Your skiing adventure commences at Ciampac, accessible via a cable car ride from Alba di Canazei. This area is renowned for its challenging slopes and panoramic views, including the Marmolada and Sella mountain ranges.
After conquering Ciampac’s thrilling descents, you’ll move on to the interconnected Poza Buffaure area. From there, it’s off to Pozza di Fassa, where the adventure ramps up. Here, you’ll attach climbing skins to your skis and make your way up the Monzoni Valley. The reward for your effort is a breathtaking downhill run that ends at your mountain hut for the night, Rifugio Contrin.
The adventure continues on day three as you’ll navigate the Alta Via 2 route, flanked by the scenic Ombretta Mountains. Once you reach the pass, a rewarding downhill journey awaits, leading you to Malga Ciapela, situated at the base of the towering Marmolada Massif. Marmolada offers unparalleled off-piste skiing experiences. Its peak is the highest in the Dolomites, soaring to an elevation of 3,342 meters, and it’s home to the region’s last remaining glacier. Whether you choose to explore runs like Antermoia or Bellunese Vecchia or perhaps venture to the Marmolada Pass, the day promises a variety of thrilling skiing options.
On the fourth day, you’ll leave behind Malga Ciapela and venture into Val Pettorina. Your climbing skins will help you ascend to the base of Marmolada Glacier’s awe-inspiring southern face, known as Alpe di Malga Ombretta. From there, you’ll climb up Val Ombretta. Reaching Passo Ombretta, you’ll be greeted by a thrilling downhill run that takes you to the quaint village of Penia, nestled in Val Contrin. If you’re up for more, the Marmolada Massif offers plenty of opportunities for additional skiing. The day is filled with a mix of ascents and descents, offering a well-rounded skiing experience.
Day five is a feast for the senses and a test of your skiing prowess. Starting from your mountain hut, you’ll ascend the southern ridge to reach Piz Boè. Your descent will take you through the Roa de Pigolerz, leading into the Vallon area. From there, a brief 15-minute climb from the base of Piz da Lech will bring you into Val Litres and eventually to the ski resorts of Colfosco and Corvara. The Sella Massif, much like the Marmolada region, offers a plethora of off-piste opportunities. Whether you opt for the adrenaline-pumping Val Setus with its significant vertical drop or explore the mystical Val Lasties, known as Witch’s Valley, the options are limitless.
On the sixth day, you’ll venture into the captivating landscapes of Val Badia, a region renowned for its ski touring opportunities. Your journey begins with a climb toward the natural parks of Puez-Odle and Fanes-Senes-Braies. Reaching the summit, you’ll have the option to explore various off-piste routes. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, the area offers descents like the Mezdì Valley. Alternatively, you could opt for routes leading towards Monte Muro. As the day winds down, you’ll return to Corvara for the final night.
After a hearty breakfast at your accommodation, you’ll have some free time to explore the local shops or take in the last views of the stunning Dolomite peaks that have been your backdrop for the past week. Whether you choose to relax in a local café or take a leisurely stroll around town, the morning is yours to enjoy. We can also arrange for a transfer to take you to the airport.
